J.A.E is an inspiring young female who is focused on the art of poetry. Jae is a Nigerian 90’s baby who also loves to skate and sight see. Born a natural poetry lover, her inspirations come from a wide variety of artists. This includes musicians such as Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Kool and The Gang, KC and The Sunshine Band, John Legend, Amy Winehose, Jazmine Sullivan, Frank Ocean, Adele and Sampha. She draws inspiration from a plethora of artists but also aspires to write her own screenplays, novels and scripts. Jae’s love for poetry and music began from a very young age when her parents took her to a performing arts school. Her passion derived from believing in poetry and understanding those who appreciated the art. Jae wants to be an advocate for change and poetry gives her that very platform to be outspoken and vocal towards her dream. Jae has been singing from the age of 3 and started poetry from the age of 19. She has performed for the queen when she was 10 years of age at the Royal Opera House in an Opera called Samson and Delilah that ran for 6 weeks! She has also achieved a nomination for a UEA Award in 2014, performed at the famous ‘House of Van’ and was the opening act for an American poet who was on tour in the UK in 2015. Moreover, Jae can Backflip (which many people can’t do) and also used to be a Ballerina. Her main motivation is her mother as she is her rock and wants to make her proud, the aim is to be happy in life and that is key. Jae’s favourite quote is “ Each day the music is my relief and in the almighty I believe”.
